Internasional Conference on Islamic Finance at the JW Marriott Hotel in Surabaya

First of all, I would like to invite all of us to express our gratitute to Allah, the Almighty, who has blessed us with good health, enabling us togather. Surabaya is Indonesia’s second-largets city with a population of almost 3 million and is known as “the city of heroes” due to the importance of the Battle of Surabaya.it was here in 1945 that first began to fight for our independence from the Dutch rulers. It is my great pleasure to participants Internasional Conference on Islamic Finance at the JW Marriott Hotel in Surabaya, with theme “The Integrated development of islamic finance towarts financial stability and sustainable economic development”, a theme that is relevant with the current development of islamic finance.I believes that growth of islamic finance will bring about fundamental benefits (maslahat) to sustainable economic development, financial system stability and social welfare. The internasional conference is expected to serve as a forum where industrial players, internasional organization, scholars and regulators are able to exchange knowledge and experience regarding islamic finance’s latest glonal development. Attending the conference are participants and speakers from over 10 countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bahrain, Yemen, Maldives, Mauritanis, Kazakhtan and Saudi Arabia. This is opportunity for us due to we are the only one students in here, we are economics students of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Universty. That a happiness for us. But it needed a fight to there are in here. Need a long time to waiting join in conference due to many people want to join in this conference.

Finally, we can to enter to conference after waiting 4 hours. The first session on the first day of conference, for exemple was chaired by World Bank Global partnership vice president Karin Finkelston, IDB group general director Azmi Omar and Dubai Financial Services Authority Supervision director Prasanna Seshachellam. On two days, I so glad due to meet Mr. Adiwarman.A Karim. And I have oppurtunity to ask to Mr.Adiwarman. “Thank you for oppurtunity, my apologize, my questions not related for this topic discuss but in general about islamic banking in indonesia. I would like to ask Mr.Adiwarman regarding the islamic Banking in Indonesia. In your opinion the islamic banks has been fully shariah compliant? Second, why the share of islamic banking in indonesia is just 5% now, despite fact that the growth is promising? Third, how to increase the share islamic banking in Indonesia? Thats all, thank you”. Suddenly, many applause for me. Its my fogetable experience.
